Unlock Your Next Chapter free downsizing seminar in McLean on October 3, 2026

MCLEAN, VA — September 12, 2026 — Homeowners who are thinking about selling, moving to a smaller home, or helping a parent make that transition can get practical guidance at Unlock Your Next Chapter: Downsizing Your Home and Life, a free in-person seminar on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Keller Williams McLean.

The market is changing. Sellers need an informed plan to position a home for the highest return and the shortest practical time on market while protecting the equity they worked years to build. Unnecessary renovations, a poorly timed sale and purchase, overlooked moving costs, and the wrong financing choice can turn a promising move into an expensive and stressful experience.

Eighty percent of people fail to downsize on their first attempt. Don’t be a statistic—take the steps to succeed.

Anne Nouri and a team of local professionals will share strategies drawn from helping hundreds of people with downsizing. Attendees will learn from what others have experienced: what worked, what created avoidable costs, and how to build a coordinated plan before listing a home or committing to the next one.

Practical guidance for the decisions that matter

The seminar will help homeowners and their adult children answer questions that can have a lasting financial impact:

  • What should be repaired or updated before listing, and which improvements may never be recovered?
  • How do changing market conditions affect pricing, preparation, timing, and the next purchase?
  • How can a seller position a home for the highest return and fewer days on market?
  • What is the full cost of a move, including sale preparation, financing, closing, moving, storage, and ongoing housing expenses?
  • How can the sale, purchase, financing, closing, and move be coordinated to reduce delays and duplicate costs?
  • What should be kept, sold, donated, or moved, including valuable belongings?
  • How can the next housing decision protect equity and support long-term family goals?

“Downsizing is not one decision. It is a series of connected financial, real estate, and personal decisions,” said Anne Nouri. “A clear plan helps families act with confidence, avoid preventable mistakes, and preserve more of what they have built.”
